Business Process Review & Project Scoping

For more complex projects that do not conform to our documented standard business processes click here to review standard processes - we are able to offer a business process review and project scoping service.

This process usually takes at least 2 days so an agreed consultancy fee would be charged for the service (this includes the production of a detailed document for the 4 steps detailed below)

If a standard process is involved then this will be reviewed as part of the project planning session and an extra session is not required

The kind of businesses that usually require this service are

a) Distributors who require a high degree of automated process
b) Suppliers with more complex manufacturing / branding processes
c) Companies with very specific and documented requirements

The Business Process Review & Project Scoping Session will take the following steps

Step 1 – Map / Model Existing Business Process

This is a highly interactive exercise. Your employees know their processes best and in our work we encourage them to describe the process as it really is, not as it should be! We use many techniques to map processes including formal interviews but find that informal workshops often bring out the best in people. In this instance we can use a mixture of “Post IT” notes and rolls of wallpaper to allow employees to develop the picture of their process without the fear of making mistakes. These maps are then translated into software based versions for employees to verify and the organisation to study

If you have already completed this process this can be used to assist the project and will help reduce the time required to complete this phase of the project.

Step 2 – Identify Bottlenecks & Confirm Objectives

Once the existing process is clear we will identify where the ‘bottlenecks’ are and review how technology can be used to reduce them. We will document where the key savings can be made and agree the key project objectives

At this stage it is important to quantify the savings and clearly list the objectives

Step 3 - Business Process Re-Engineering

We now move onto a more detailed documentation of the revised business process combining the existing processes with the proposed new changes identified in step 2.

This will then provide everyone involved in the project with a clear roadmap of how the business will work and what processes are involved

Step 4 – Software / Technical Specification

Finally we are able to take the new process and document how our software will be used to implement this and what if any custom modifications are required

In the unlikely event that our software cannot be modified or used we will identify what the technical requirements are – so the specification could be used by another technology company
